Coming into this game, the Dolphins hold the second longest active winning streak in the NFL at 6 games. However, these wins are: Jets 2x, Texans, Giants, Panthers, and Ravens. The only decent win in this streak is the win against the Ravens who were decimated by Covid. The Saints are coming off two impressive defensive performances, as they shut out the Bucs last week and held the Jets to 9 points the week before. This Saints defense is going to have to have another great performance for them to get the W tonight.
There is a lot of talk about the Saints starting Ian Book at quarterback tonight, but he is more than capable of leading New Orleans to a victory against Miami. He led Notre Dame to a 30-5 record during his tenure and was drafted in the fourth round in this year's NFL draft. He plays a very similar style of QB as Taysom Hill which will greatly help play calling in this game with designed runs. Book averaged 5 YPC during his time at ND and you can expect him to keep using his legs to make plays in the NFL. Book was described as a "fast learner and a film junkie. He doesn't make the same mistake twice" by his QB coach with the Saints. Book very well may be one of those "sleeper" rookie quarterbacks that just needs a chance to prove how capable he is.
The Saints will get the job done at home tonight in a very low scoring affair. The Dolphins have not faced any defense in the top half of the league the last 7 games and it will show tonight. Be ready for the Saints to rely heavily on the run game with a fair amount of screens and designed QB runs mixed in. This game should be a "one read and takeoff" kind of game for Book so I'm taking his over on rush yards as well.
